About Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (Boost CYAC)
Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre is a non-profit, community-based organization that provides programs and services to children and their families who have experienced abuse and violence as well as prevention programming for different community members (e.g., caregivers, professionals working with children, post-secondary students, etc.). It was founded in 1981 and was known as ‘The Metropolitan Toronto Chairman’s Special Committee on Child Sexual Abuse’. It was later renamed Toronto Child Abuse Centre after the mandate expanded to include all forms of child abuse. In 2007, the organization was renamed ‘Boost Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention’. Finally, in 2013, it became the first Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) in the city of Toronto and was once again renamed as Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre. Boost CYAC is committed to eliminating abuse and violence in the lives of children, youth, and their families.
