Activity Title: Paper Clip Activity |
Suggested Grade/Age Range: Grades 7-8 |
Activity Objective: The objective of this activity is to consolidate and reflect on learnings across all the modules explored in the program. |
Materials Required: Paper clips (two for each individual) |
Prep Time: 5 minutes Gather needed materials Task Time: 40 minutes |
Activity Description: 1. Have the class form a circle and pass two paper clips to each individual 2. Tell the class that this activity is an opportunity to reflect on what they have learned in the modules covered in this program. Each individual will have the opportunity to share two things: a) One or two learnings that has really left an impression or impacted how they thought about relationships b) How they hope to apply what they learned to how they navigate and build healthy relationships · They can talk about this using one or more of the module themes 3. Once the individual has shared about the above two topics, they can link their paper clips and pass them onto the next individual who will also share, link their paperclips, and then pass it on. The goal is that a long chain of paper clips will be created by the time the last person shares 4. The take-away message is that nurturing healthy relationships is everyone’s responsibility and we all need to do our part to contribute to the health of our relationships with one another. Only by working together (e.g., by listening to and communicating with one another, by respecting each other’s boundaries, etc.) can we ensure our relationships will thrive |
Activity Extensions: This activity can also be turned into an individual personal journal reflection exercise. This might be more effective if individuals want to explain in more detail how the modules have personally impacted them and do not feel as comfortable sharing this in a whole class setting |
Additional Comments: If most individuals are only mentioning one or two of the modules, open up the conversation by prompting them to also think about the other modules covered |
